This chicken recipe is a classic, simple take on fried chicken, but it is far from boring. Bring on the comfort food!

Country Fried Chicken with White Gravy

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Chicken Breast
  • 2 Eggs
  • ¾ Cup Milk
  • 1 ½ Cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 ½ tsp Salt
  • Dash Cayenne Pepper
  • Avocado or olive oil For frying

Gravy

  • 6 Tbsp Butter
  • Cup Flour
  • tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 3 Cups Milk
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Set up two pie plates or shallow bowls. In first bowl, mix together eggs and milk. In second bowl, whisk together flour, both peppers, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Trim chicken and cut into desired size. Dip each piece of chicken into egg mixture, then flour, back in the egg, and finally in the flour mixture. Continue until all chicken is breaded. Set aside.
  • Heat oil over medium- medium/high heat in a large skillet.
  • Once oil is hot, cook each piece of chicken 3-4 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 165 °F
  • Drain chicken on paper towel lined plate and prepare to make gravy.

Gravy

  • Over medium heat, melt butter in a sauce pan. Once butter is melted, whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Slowly add milk, while whisking.
  • Add salt and both peppers. Continue whisking until gravy begins to thicken and is smooth in consistency.
  • Ladle over chicken and enjoy!
