This chicken packs a huge flavor punch and is pretty simple to make! Don’t let the long ingredient list scare you away- it’s mostly seasonings and common ones at that.
Smothered Chicken
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Chicken Breast
- 2 Tbsp Butter Divided
- 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- ½ tsp Dried Rosemary
- 1 tsp Paprika
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Pepper
- 1 Onion Diced
- 2 Cans Cream of Chicken Soup
- ½ Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Red Bell Pepper Diced
Instructions
- Trim and clean chicken and place in a large bowl.
- To the bowl, add Italian Seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat the chicken in the seasonings.
- Pre-heat oven to 350 °F
- In a large skillet melt 1 Tbsp of butter over medium heat. Working in batches, cook chicken 5-7 minutes each side to sear meat. Remove chicken and place in oven safe 9×13 baking dish.
- Once all chicken has been seared, place remaining butter in skillet and sauté onion and red pepper until soft. Add soup and sour cream to onion mixture. Pour over chicken and bake for 25 minutes or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165. °F
- Remove from oven and serve hot over rice or egg noodles.
