Skip the cans and packets! Sloppy Joes are a childhood favorite, and so easy to make at home. This recipe uses common pantry staples, is quick and easy to throw together, and will be a hit with the whole family.
Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Small Onion Diced
- 1 ½ lbs Ground Beef
- 1 ½ Cups Ketchup
- ¼ Cup Water
- ½ Tbsp White Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- ¾ Tbsp Yellow Mustard
- ½ tsp Salt
- ⅛ tsp Black Pepper
- ⅛ tsp Paprika
Instructions
- Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion for 5-8 minutes, or until soft and translucent.
- Add beef, and cook until browned.
- Meanwhile, in a medium bowl combine ketchup, water, vinegar, sugar, mustard, salt, pepper, and paprika. Whisk until smooth.
- Once beef is thoroughly cooked, drain any excess fat and add ketchup mixture to cooked meat. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low, cover and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve on toasted hamburger buns and enjoy!
